I am a 29 year old male. I am somewhat handsome (not Brad Pitt, but not Steve Buscemi either). I am in good shape, I am a homeowner, and I am relatively fun to be around.  I tell you this because I have never had what one might call a ‘long-term’ relationship. This blog will be simple – I’ll be writing letters (some longer, some shorter) to every single female that I’ve been on at least one date with, and in some cases only asked out on a date.  If you are one of those (un)lucky ladies that might receive a letter, please know I hold no ill-will towards any of you, and will do my best to make the letters as humorous (and anonymous) as possible.  Make no mistake about it, while the letters will be designed to entertain, they are entirely narcissistic.  You know, kind of like those assclowns Lebron James & Brett Favre.

Once in awhile I’ll throw up some clips of songs and movie scenes that for one reason or another remind me of a girl, a breakup, or something along those lines….mainly because I want this blog to last, and there are a finite number of girls I can write letters to.  Hopefully you appreciate these.  If you don’t, feel free to not read them, I won’t be offended.

Another note…if you have figured me out, think one of the letters is addressed to you, and have an issue with it send an email to dearexgirlfriend @ gmail . com and if it really is you, I’d be glad to take it down.

Finally, with regards to the historical accuracy of some of my letters, I will refer you to the opening line of the late 90s Great Expectations, “I’m not going to tell the story the way it happened. I’m going to tell it the way I remember it.”

Join my facebook page…It’s a super cool place to hang out while you stalk your own exes.

You have a great site and concept. I am more than happy to help you spread the word!

This is most awesome. We’ll all be checking it to hear what happens with the new ladies in your life.

Also, I think it is fantastic that you write letters to ladies that you’ve only been on a date with. I have a few one date wonders I’d like to send a letter to…. :-)

I wish I was the subject of one of these letters! Keep up the blogging :)

This was one of the most witty things I have read in a long time. I love the heartfelt sarcasm. The fact that you have standards, hot and smart arn’t enough you also want un-slutty. Keep up the good work

I’d rather go on a date with Steve than Brad… I think he’d be more fun!

LOL. I’ve barely just found your blog, but you have a great idea. I don’t know how many times I have been driving down the road, and suddenly some “reminder” crosses my path – a song, place, car, who knows – and then I mutter to myself “that stupid girl.” You hope to never see her again, but in some ways you almost want to bum into her and make her realize she lost.

I’ll be definitely dropping by now and again. I like your entries, they’re hilarious :P

Thanks for stopping by my site today (http://ShariLopatin.wordpress.com aka the recent post “My Jewish Cat and the Art of Guilt”). I really like the concept of your blog. I will stop by periodically to see some of these “letters.” Very creative and humorous idea! Maybe a future book?

Great idea & daring. Thank God I am not one, hehe :)
Besides ex girl/boy friends, dont you just love them!
I have got a lot of reading here…

I was confused for a moment there, when I started reading your most recent entries. I mean, you got me thinking, “Ethan Hawke is his girlfriend? WTF??” But I guess I have a LOT of backreading to do.

I agree with the previous comments, this is a very good and interesting concept. Subscribe to this site, DONE!

  16. December 10, 2010 at 4:12 pm

The way you remember it is the only way a story can be told.

This sounds awesome! I’ll be sure to stop by again. I love the idea. Have you heard of a publication put out by Art on Paper called “Letters to a Young Artist?” It’s full of letters from established visual artists regarding confidence and the like for an aspiring creative…. I love projects like these! Anyhow, good luck!

I stumbled upon your blog – then restumbled again, then restumbled a third time…perhaps it would have been easier to just log it as a favorite and check it myself (less painful at least).

I’ve enjoyed all your letters, but in reading, can’t for the life of me figure out why you’re still having to write them. I hope 2011 brings you a new blog “Dear Girlfriend”, but until then, I’ll keep reading of your exploits and the girls that were left behind.

I love the idea of your blog, and despite not having looks on his side Steve Buscemi is awesome!!
We are not all cut out for long-term so look forward to reading more.

Hmmm….you sound vaguely like a male version of Taylor Swift! I look forward to reading your letters. Great, fun concept.

Great concept! You have a readable style that’s perfect for executing that concept. It makes me wonder how many more letters to have to write and what you’ll do when you find the person that means you never have to write another letter again — but it’s a good thing that i’m asking those questions, because it means you have my attention!

Thanks for dropping by to read and comment on one of my posts earlier this week too.

I think this is one of the best “About” section here on WordPress. Love the idea of your blog: very interesting! You write very well and I enjoyed reading the last few posts your wrote.

And thank you so much for stopping by my blog.

  29. January 24, 2011 at 12:03 pm

“I’m not going to tell the story the way it happened. I’m going to tell it the way I remember it.” is about all that caught my attention. Using that for an excuse, i’ll drop by now and then. :D

  30. March 30, 2011 at 7:31 pm

This is fun… my question is has anyone emailed you and thought you were writing about them? Can’t wait to read more. Thank you!
